10 science studies that can make you say 'Duh'

I had this light reading on http://www.popsci.com site and found this interesting topic to be shared with. It's called the 10 Science studies that will make you say 'duh'... Isn't that what the Y generation loves to say? hihi

Ok back to our business, so let us see what are those 'duh studies' that constitute the top 10 list of the year:

1) Blowing up mountains is bad for the environment
- duh, obviously! that is why the environmentalists fight for the so called 'nature' and even kindergarten kids would know it is bad for the environment especially it can caused air pollution
-This study was done by Margaret Palmer from University of Maryland on the mountaintop mining (MTM) of the Appalachia. She plainly object the granting procedures and rules of the activities to the State government
2) Old people prefer happy memories
- should I say it? haha duh, obviously! aren't those even what the youngsters like to talk about? happy memories will make the elders feel that the world they'll be leaving soon was worthy. That will make them feel alive and appreciate the next day better
- A group of middle age psychologists had this research on few candidates and they found out that the elder loves the positive effects in life when they love to talk about kittens for instance instead of war wounds. Haha. I bet I'm old :P. The researchers claim that the older will have stronger memories in remembering the good old times. Yeah I think I am OLD! argh

3) A mean gym teacher can turn you off sport
- ok, let me see, when I was in high school I had this fierce gym teacher. She is strict like hell where she forced us to wear the school gym uniform! no other brand. It must be the "SMK Aminuddin Baki" track bottom and T-shirt! Argh but unfortunately she failed to make us hate the gym slots. haha.
- A research assert that about 70% students drop out gym after being belittled by the instructors. I wonder how would they threat the cadets in the military.

4) Most people drive poorly while talking on the phone
- duh, duh, duh. Isn't that the main reason why they will be fine or summon? Many countries enforce that rules! haha. I tried once, yeah hardly to focus while driving and talking on phone. Reasonable and proven
- Jason Watson and friend had this study and surprisingly there are 2.5% of their subjects were 'supertaskers' who can do double jobs as competency as they perform a single task. As the conclusion from this, in some situations, i can also be a 'supertasker' for instance i can dream while sleeping or i can study and watch movie simultaneously. haha

5) Siblings who fight don't get along
- duh, air dicincang takkan putus! how bad the relation is, you are still siblings. You share the same blood, you were born from same womb, you shared toys when you were kids. I disagree! haha
- Campione and Smentana surveyed on 115 pairs of siblings and found out that most of the reason is due to personal-space conflicts between both

6) Young people want big money, big vacation
- haha obviously and this is hell right "duh". I can see that and I can feel that. But for me, I don't really care on the money at certain point. I think the benefits and advantages that I can get from my employers would be my targets. Duh, I'm an old-fashioned type of person. hihi
- Jean Twenge wrote something about the GenMe a.k.a Y generation. She claimed "The combination of not wanting to work hard but still wanting more money and status verifies the sense of entitlement many have identified among GenMe". I bet that this is so right true!

7) Environmentalists can be smug jerks
- A great question "Do green products make us a better person?" is it true by expressing and showing that we really cares about the environment can make us a better person? Nah, it is what in here 'the heart'!
- Finding shows that a person who talks or bought green product would normally induced a 'halo effects' when they feel great about their so called good deeds but the truth is they forget to be humble about it. 'God looks at the heart'

8) Self control makes students more manageable
- 'duh' again! it has been proven long time ago. Isn't this is why we are encouraged to be patience for what ever we're facing on. Ok, one should experienced this at least once. we don't really need science to prove this! 'Duh'
- A group of researchers from University of Rochester and Miami try to quantitative this claim, they found out after 14 weeks teaching and exposing the self control and express methods to the third graders, the disciplinary rate derogate by 46%

9) People are happier on the weekend
-haha do you have to do science studies on this? 'duh'. So, is there anyone would feel bad or sad whenever weekend comes? haha I hope no. Isn't weekend is like the best days you can ever get in a week? It's the time for you to be with your loves one and spend more time for your passion stuffs? haha
- Richard Ryan's theory says that we enjoy the weekend more because it satisfies self-determination when there is no boss around,no computers and data to be sort out and that answers why people loves Friday nights and hate Monday morning. hihi

10) Hard-drinking adrenaline freaks are prone to injuries
-'duh' for thousands times. This is why it is totally prohibited in the Islamic teaching and I believe others too. Obviously drinking can caused one to loss his conscious brain and starts to do unplanned and irrational things
- Finding shows that 600,000 college students in a year injured themselves while drunk and 1700 die. So, DON'T DRINK!
So there go you, the 10 science studies that were done just to quantitative the facts. I thought only engineers love numbers. haha. Whatever it is, it was a great and knowledgeable reading for me! So long :)

10 THINGS THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THE ONLY ONE...
Eventhough you're just a cat to others, but you are more than that to us

1) The way you sit 'macam ayam' - flying on the floor

2) The one who will run into a room whenever the air-cond is on
3) The handsome boy with mulut busuk, hehe
4) The one that will jump on us regardless what we were doing (sleeping, on the computer, etc) and meowing to get a rub from us
5) The one who always reminds us 'the food is empty. the drink dah habis, tambahkanla'
6) The one who whatever will wait for a new and clean sand for poo - bersih sangat
7) The one who sulk whenever someone step on you or did something wrong to you

8) The one that will sleep on the single sofa at the main door, you were always the receptionist. Your sleeping poses are unforgettable and those really vivid within me

9) The one who is used to fight with us for the chair in Ebak and Ibu's room
10) The one to leave long yellowish hair on our black and dark clothes

I shouldn't be sad when you're gone. I should be thankful because Allah had gave us the whole family a chance to know you and taking care of you. Pandai Neo pilih Nishu Syaaban as the day kan? haha. You're my boy!

Missing you is like 'GOD KNOWS!'
Now you're in a different world, take care of yourself and till we meet again. For sure we'll meet again sooner or later. :)
Have fun there and WAIT FOR US! So long boy ('',) Muah... love you so much!

'Tattoo' class :P

To occupy my few minutes waiting for the farj 'azan', i want to write on my recent fun activity I had with few friends during our Intro to oil and gas class last Tuesday.
Urm, how should I start? ok it is something like this...

Replacing class from 5pm to 7pm during fasting month is sooooooo inconvenience/boring/unproductive/sleepy
Since that these 2 friends of mine had this so called 'tattoo activity'
Today was the 2nd time they had it actually... hahha

Wanna see the result?

There you go! haha to be honest i wrote something as well on the 'paper'. I wonder what were in our mind haha. This is the result on Hani's hand but the best part was on Kochen's where she had the sylar and compass drawn on her hand too (adapted from Heroes TV series). Those symbols were something like below: (the compass and sylar respectively)

I enjoy that too... fascinating! oh yeah don't forget to see the handsome and good looking man on the right of Hani's hand, it's our beloved AP Aung Kyaw (younger version of him).

Now I found my final year is not that bad after all and I'll do more incredible and unexpected stuffs soon, so that there are at least vivid memories to be remembered and to be shared with my grandkids (haha) :P

Bye for now. So long :)

::: Abuya :::

I was shocked when I got a message from my brother that says 'Kak Fa, abuya dah meninggal dunia pukul 5 tadi'. My heart stopped like some kind of lightening just hit on me. Who's abuya? why is he so important to me?

Abuya was my second father in this whole wide world. Ummi and him took a great care of me and my siblings when Ebak and Ibu went to the office when I was a kid. They were the one who made sure that we had good meals everyday. Abuya will always remind Ummi to send meals to ours if we didn't walk to their house. Unfortunately, when I was 16, Buya and Ummi moved out from Taman Niwana to Serendah. Since that we seldom meet them.

I'm thankful that Allah gave me the chance to meet Abuya couple days before I went back to UTP last month. With his weak voice and shivering hands, he kept on reminding me to study hard. Abuya, Fafa akan sentiasa ingat nasihat Abuya. I believe that Allah will always be with you and I will never forget all your sacrifices to help Ebak and Ibu to raise us all up till we are who we are.

This sadness will I bring away and prayers will be the bridge between us and all I want to say to my Buya is "You'll always be in my prayers and till we meet next time, Bye Abuya" ;(

When the truth has revealed

Alhamdulillah All praise to Allah
I wasn't wrong all this time.. my feelings were right
It was one of the best gift I had,
Thanks to Him, now I know the truth about a thing that revealed thousands of questions that have been buzzing in my head

It's funny when I rethink about it, all I can say is 'I THOUGHT SO!'
I cried and those tears will be the last tears I had because of them.
Now all the smiles that craved out from me are not because of you people
The truth has spoken and I just can't help myself from smirking whenever I think about how successful they've been pretending in front of me

Human will always be human, They'll never be an angel..
I shouldn't say this but thanks for those great, tremendous and impressive acts
You people really made me drown in your games.
I was a blind girl and I bet you were all laughing to see me walking with the stick
But now this blind girl had a new pair of eyes and she'll never gonna be your toy again
I'm not stirring the pot but I think I'm done
No more turning back and let me be happy with my new life

Stop being the pencil that smearing me but do be the eraser and rub away all off our memories together
I really hate to do this but there're no good memories that I can remember being around with you people.
1 day He'll bring a 'present' to you. Just remember how would it be if you were in my shoe and I bet you'll like the gift.

Thanks for the tea, pals!

It was a sickening day today unfortunately for me. Having diarrhea is not a good thing to happen to someone especially during this fasting month. Thanks to Allah that at least there are friends around me who made me this mug of thick tea to derogate the uncomfortable. hehe

Alhamdulillah I feel much better now and can really focus on my proposal. Thanks again to them: Hani, Kochen, Nad and Izyan
I do sounded a bit emotional but yeah I think I am too sensitive kinda person. Praise to Allah I have this thesis proposal to finish up tonight, at least there is something that can distract me. hihi,...

So long for now :)

California girls VS Kuala Lumpur girls

Let see if the Kuala Lumpur girls can beat those California girls
(California girls song adapted from Katy Perry's)

CALIFORNIA GIRLS
California girls
We're unforgettable
Daisy Dukes
Bikinis on top
Sun-kissed skin
So hot
Will melt your popsicle
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

California girls
We're undeniable
Fine, fresh, fierce
We got it on lock
West coast represent
Now put your hands up
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

KUALA LUMPUR GIRLS
Kuala Lumpur girls
We're unexpected
 Shopaholics
hand with paper bags
sun burnt skin
hell hot
will peel your body babe
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

Kuala Lumpur girls
we're unrejected
free, cute, sweet
we make it unseen
South East represent
now make a big wave
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

Try to sing the song with this new "lyrics", sounded inspiring to me. Haha
